Porn stars and strippers have been staples of Music videos since the introduction of MTV. The videos of Motley Crue and other heavy metal "hair bands" of the '80s regularly featured women in the sex trade. Being an edgy, extreme and image-obsessed art form, Hip Hop has accelerated the connection between Music and porn.

The cover of the September issue of AVN (Adult Video News), known as the Billboard magazine of the porn biz, featured the image of SNOOP DOGG in a gold suit with purple accessories, to accompany a piece about the growing merger between porn and Hip Hop.

Snoop shook up the porn industry a year ago with Doggystyle, a collaboration with Hustler video, in which the MC hosted an on-screen orgy. The tape sold 150,000 copies worldwide, winning AVN's award as the year's top-selling video and for best Music in a porn film. Doggystyle featured eleven previously unreleased tracks.

Not surprisingly, Snoop has just released a follow up, Diary of a Pimp, which follows the MC around a huge house while various sex acts are performed. The new project also debuts three new tracks: "Break These Hoes for Snoop," "Pussy Like This" and the more modestly titled "Doin' It Too."

TREACH, the frontman for NAUGHTY BY NATURE, has released his own tape, Treach's Naturally Naughty Porn Movie. Unlike Snoop, Treach actually gets busy, indulging in a three way with two "actresses" named OBSESSION and SINNAMON. The scene is "Soft core," meaning you don't get to see the rapper's equipment. Still Treach, host of the Source's syndicated television show and an actor, is definitely pushing the envelope.

Another well known Hip Hop brand to enter the porn market is DIGITAL UNDERGROUND, who years ago recorded the classic "Freaks of the Industry." Their porn tape, Sex in the Studio, is hosted by MONEY B and the appropriately named HUMPTY HUMP. The mix is familiar: rappers talking, Music tracks and porn stars in action. Among the MCs who appear onscreen are REDMAN, WARREN G, DE LA Soul, RAS KASS, DAZ DILLINGER and the ever-busy Snoop and Treach.
